Outfit of the Day - Dirndl
Last weekend was the annual fair of my boyfriend's gun club. Gun clubs here in Germany are really traditional with uniforms inspired by traditional men's clothing and so on. So I took the opportunity to wear my dirndl out. I bought this dirndl second-hand, but it was not worn by the former owner. Although blue is normally not my color, I really love it with this garment. The pattern and the color give it a more modern and youthful touch.
Sometimes I wish I could wear dirndls more often, so I had a reason to buy more, but here in this region of Germany it is not really common. What a shame!

Birthday outfit and a finished Myrna cardigan
Fortunately I already made this fox dress two years ago (from New Look 6262) so I at least had not to sew something new (and not buy new fabric). But I somehow decided it was time to finish the cardigan I started almost two years ago for an Outfit Along (I made the dress on time, but obviously not the cardigan). I think it is funny that I now ended up wearing the cardigan with the dress it was thought for. And just for fun, here is my progress on Ravelry:
Myrna was my first cardigan and my first clothing item in general (besides accessories like hats or scarves). It was a bit challenging but it was also fun to learn new stitches. Overall I would say it is a great beginners project. Because of the wool, the needle size and the short sleeves it is quick to knit (of course only if one actually knits and does not put it in a bag and forgets about it). I love the outcome. It looks so cute and is not screaming self-made at all. The wool I used was the recommended one Yowza by Miss Babs in Vlads. It was a dream to work with. I only needed one skein so it was not cheap but affordable. Overall I love my new cardigan and can't wait for the weather to get warmer so that I can wear it.

Outfit of the Day
I wore out my new vintage coat today. It is very warm and looks so glamorous! I bought it from Solanah from Vixen Vintage. She has so many lovely things in her shop, too bad I am short on money. The coat is fake fur and feels more like a blanket, but there was a bit of confusion at the custom office.

Brazilian Party
Today was the annual summer party of my former workplace. The motto was Brazil because of the WM. We watched the game, there were cocktails and cigars and some yummy food and even some Samba dancers.
I was a bit boring with my clothes because I had the little one with me in the carrier, but fortunately I had some nice earrings, a colorful headscarf and a hairflower.
The little one behaved himself well. Only after three hours it was all too much and we had to go home. I think he especially liked the dancers.

Outfit of the day
We visited a little exhibition about the mind which was not so interesting. Afterwards we were at a café and had a nice time.
The people were all so nice and we exchanged gifts and it was a very nice day. The weather was really nice. It was not too cold, so it was no problem being outside.

Outfit of the day
I could not resist this cute sweater when I saw it at the ASOS webstore. It was just too perfect for the coming christmas time. And after patiently waiting for the festive days to come I wore it the first time today. I really like it and it kept me warm all day at work.

An evening with Shakespeare
My goal is to go to the theatre/opera/cinema once a month. So for this month I decided on a bit of Shakespeare and saw yesterday "The Merry Wives of Windsor". The play was open air and there were only five men to play all the roles (yes, even the women). It was such a lot of fun! The actors were incredible and I loved the costumes and the stage design.
I wanted to take my new red bag with me, which arrived only yesterday. And I wanted somthing not too chic. Then I discovered this cherry blouse in my closet. I bought this last year maybe because of the cherries and because it was sheer (which I totally loved last year, but failed immensly) and then did never wear it. Somehow I did not have anything to go with it. So yesterday I was stubborn and fortunately found this skirt to wear with the blouse. And I really like it. And of course I did wear my new Agnes & Norman shoes. I love their shoes. They are so comfortable and these fit like a glove.
It was a very nice evening and I am curious what play or movie or whatever it will be next month.

A petticoat and Domestic Sluttery
I finally bought myself a nice 50s style petticoat. It is from Doris Designs. I bought the longest one (26'') in peach, only to realize that I have almost no dresses it fits under (even with the one dress I originally bought it for it doesn't work). But I love it and it will work with some future projects. Especially the color is so pretty.
The petticoat is very full and makes the iconic 50s shape. I hope you can see it with this dress, it was the only one I liked with the petticoat.
The petticoat is made out of nylon which is really soft. They offer a wide range of sizes and colors. The shipping from UK was very fast. And the petticoat comes in a fabric bag you can also use for storing.
With such a girlie outfit I needed something proper to read. So I enjoyed Domestic Sluttery. It's a very funny book. The tips are not ground-breaking, but some are helpful (also mostly nothing new). The author covers home decor, cooking, styling and tips for traveling and shopping. It's a nice bit of everything. The book has great pictures and some really yummy recipes. I can't wait to try some of them out. There are recipes for breakfast, lunch, baking and cocktails. The book is not a must-have, but it is nice to have.

Christmas Lolita Meet-up
Last Sunday we had our annual christmas lolita meet-up. It was so cold outside and snowed almost the whole time. But it was nice nonetheless.
We visited the Moritzburg Museum. They have a collection of modern art. Not everything was my taste, but there were also some really great pieces. Before that we were invited to a short organ concert. This was really nice too.
After the museum we went to the museum coffee house. There we all had something to drink and eat and then of course exchanged our presents. My donee got a nail polish, some fabric and a lot of tea. She really liked it, which I am glad of. Sometimes it´s so difficult to find a nice gift. I got a hairbow and a brooche. It´s all selfmade. I really like it, but right now I am not sure with what to wear. But someday I will use it.
My outfit was improvised, because of the weather. But I liked it. It was very cozy. And black and white is always nice. Unfortunately my curls didn´t like the weather. They were so pretty when I undid the pin curl set.

Long time no see
I am sorry for the long absence. The last weeks I tried to settle in my new student life. I think I finally got the hang of it.
There happened some things the last weeks. First we had a lolita meet-up. We visited our local museum of historical instruments. It was really interesting and we had fun taking photos and talking. Here are some photos by the awesome Krone:
Outfit rundown
Then there was my birthday last weekend. We visited my parents home. The weather was so wonderful. The was one of my few birthdays with nice weather. The Friday before I finally cut my hair much shorter. I played with the idea for a while now, but was never brave enough to do it. When I finally decided on it, my hairdresser had no time. So I went to the store bought scissors and a little color and did it myself. I am really happy about the outcome. It looks much better and is easier to style. The color is not perfect and I am not sure if I will do this again, but overall I am quite satisfied.

A lot of wood and a birthday party
My father celebrated his 60th birthday this weekend and so my boyfriend and I headed to my hometown. Before the big party we took the opportunity and visited "Blockhausen". This a kind of "village" (it´s only three or so huts) made of block houses. There are exhibited a lot of wooden sculptures made with chainsaws. These are so cool. I really can't imagine how they make all the little details.
And here are my presents for my Dad: selfmade hazelnut creme and something to drink wrapped in a selfembroidered bag. I hope he likes it.
The party was fun, but really long. So I think I will be off to bed early today.

A ... B ... C...
Yesterday the daughter of my friend got to first class and we had a little party. And because I remembered a dress I made some years ago, which I did not wear anymore I thought I make a new blouse. The fabric of the dress has colorful letters strewn about.
I had some trouble finding a matching fabric for the collar. I had only very little of the yellow, but it was so perfect. In the end it was just enough and I am really happy with my choice.
I decided on New Look 6808. The only change I made was to omit the darts at the waist, so that I could skip the zipper. I mean to wear the blouse only tucked in, so this is no problem.
I had some trouble with attaching the collar, but this was mainly my fault. Somehow I made one mistake after the other.
When the blouse was finally done, I had some trouble finding a matching outfit. I really lack some solid color skirts. And I also had no tights anymore. In the end I decided on my only jeans. I think it goes well with the blouse.
The party was so much fun. I enjoyed myself very much. And I hope the new school kid has fun tomorrow.

Outfit 05.09.2012
This was not a planned outfit, but in the end everything matched surprisingly well. This is what you get, if you have no more nude tights.
