Review: Patrones Extra

A while ago I bought the new Patrones. It´s a special edition with only summer things. All in all it is nice. I love the photos. They are very artistic. Sometimes you can´t see the fit and style of the clothes well, but I really like eye-candy.
Some of the patterns are really interesting, at others it is more the fabric choice that makes the things special. I had hoped for some more patterns I really want to make, but all in all there are not so many that are my style.
But enough words, here are my favorites:

I love this dress. The fabric is gorgeous. I am not sure if I could find an affordable fabric for this. I don´t want to spend too much on this kind of dresses, because I hardly wear long skirts.

I like the shorts, because they are so simple. And don´t you think these huge sleeves on the blouse are gorgeous?

I already have a plan for the blue top. I have an old jersey dress I no longer wear and I hope I can make this shirt out of it.

I think this would be a good summer jacket. But I would lengthen the sleeves.

Inspiration - To Catch a Thief

Recently I saw "To Catch a Thief". The movie was really interesting and entertaining. I loved the characters. Especially Grace Kelly was awesome. I really don´t know why I did not watch it earlier. The story was very entertaining and there was not one point I thought it was boring. The dialogs between the actors were great. All the characters were extreme, but this added to the fun. I really liked the mother. She was very amusing.

And Grace Kelly wore so many wonderful outfits. I think, there was not one I didn´t like. Because of the sunny setting everything looked much more colorful and pretty. But especially the evening gowns stole my heart. Now I really want to make a light-weight dress like this. Don´t you think it would be fun to wear some flouncy dress like this?

Maybe I can use the Colette Chantilly dress pattern. I really want to make it anyway.

Holiday 2011 - Day Seven

The last day of our holiday trip. We visited the Neues Museum. There are exhibited things of Heinrich Schliemann, Greek and Roman art, Egyptian things of all kinds and of course the famous statue of Nefertiti (which was so beautiful). The huge complex (the museum island) is gorgeous. You can even visit it as a little park. The buildings are all very impressive.

I wore my 40s Vogue dress with new shoes. I am not very fond of flat shoes, but I thought they were better for a museum trip.

Our trip home was relaxed. I was a bit sad that all was over, but also happy to be at home again. In the evening I left for my own home. It felt strange to be alone. All in all it was a nice holiday, far from perfect, but it was good to be away for some days. Oh, and here is a photo of my souvenirs:

In the background you can see the silk scarf, then there are the scarf for my Mom and the teas. The Egyptian pendant is for my Grandma. The book is from the fashion museum and on it lay the earrings. And of course there are the shoes.

Holiday 2011 - Day Six

We changed again our location and went to Berlin. I was there several times, but only for some hours. Our hotel was not so nice as the last one, but okay. First we visited the KaDeWe. This store is really huge and expensive. I think this was the first time I saw a real Chanel dress (and even touched it). Fortunately even expensive stores have sales, so I could buy myself a silk scarf with a nice flower and bird motif and a scarf for my Mom. I also got some tea, wich they do not sell anymore at home.

Afterwards we did a little sight-seeing. My boyfriend wanted to see the inside of the Ritz-Carlton hotel. I have to say it is impressive, but I am not sure if I want to stay there. We also went to the Alexander Platz and did a little more shopping. I wanted some shoes to wear to the museum the next day.

Holiday 2011 - Day Five

Finally we were at the fashion museum, our main reason to go to Meyenburg. It´s a private collection. The owner has many fashion objects and accessories from the 1900s to the 1970s. It was very interesting to see the change of style trough the decades on real things.

There was also shop with vintage clothing and accessories, but the prices were not my range. But I bought some nice pearls earrings. They have a little defect, but I think I can repair this. If you have the opportunity to visit this museum, do it. It´s really fascinating and quite charming.

For the occasion I wore my 40s dress. I made this for our trip to the opera two weeks ago. It´s a homage to the BBQ dress of Scarlett O´Hara. It´s my favorite dress from the movie.

I paired it with my vintage flower hat and added some red. I plan to make a green belt to make it more like "Gone with the wind". The belt, bag and shoes are also vintage.

Bye, bye Baltic Sea

hello Meyenburg

Meyenburg is a little city in Brandenburg. Here is a little castle with a fashion museum. Our hotel was really great. The rooms were so nice and comfortable and the food is so good. I could have stayed here only for the hotel. And the hotel was only a little distance from the museum.

In the afternoon we walked a bit in the park and took photos. I wore my 40s (house) dress. This too I finished right before our holiday. The weather was a dream. It was sunny and warm. I was a bit sad that we had to leave the seaside when there was the first warm day, but it was worth it for the hotel.

Holiday 2011 - Day Three

The weather was really nasty. It was cold and it rained a lot. But we were at the beach for some time. I wore my 30s beach pajama by Wearing History patterns. I made finished it the day before we went. Sewing it was not very difficult. And I really like the fabric. I got it for in the sale for only 3 EUR/m. It was much fun to stroll at the beach in this outfit. The sand was so nice and soft.

It´s sad that all the things you can visit here are very expensive. So we stayed indoors most of the day. My boyfriend made a segway tour. And we took a long walk at the beach and in the city. There was a huge shoe sale, but only my boyfriend bought some shoes. If it was not for the weather it was a nice day.
