Spring comes

I finally used the Ikea fabric I bought in January and made a cute skirt out of it. The pattern is by Ottobre. It was a quick and easy project and I really like the outcome.

Sublime Stitching

Some weeks ago I bought "Sublime Stitching - Embroidered Effects" and fell in love with the designs and ideas. The book contains iron-ons. In the first part the author explains different stitches and embroidery basics. The second part contains ideas for projects. I think the projects are really cute and wearable/useable. The designs look good without being to difficult.

And here is my first project from the book, a birdie jeans.

In the book there were two birds, one on each side. I had problems with the iron-on, because the jeans was too dark and I didn´t see it one the fabric. So I draw it myself.
Here is a close-up:

In real the colors are a bit darker. I love the outcome. Got so much compliments when I wore it last week at work. Hopefully I have the opportunity to make something from the book again soon.

Ottobre 2/2010

I really love Ottobre patterns. They have cute, wearable designs and it´s very comfortable to work with them. In the magazine are normal women as models and they use such adorable fabrics.

SDC10198

So last week I got the new issue and ... was a bit disappointed. Maybe because the last issue was so lovely. This time there is only one piece I really like and some nice ones, but a lot are really ugly in my eyes. But it´s okay and I hope for the next issue in autumn.

My favorite piece:

Name labels

Last week my name labels arrived. I was inspired by Goldkind, because I so liked her name tags. At the last Lolita meet-up I asked her where she got them and then ordered some myself. Here is the result:

I am really satisfied with them. I ordered mine at dortex and paid 26,25 € for 100 labels. The system is easy. You can choose between different text types and colors, label colors and symbols (cost extra). I decided on black with white text, because you can read it easily and it fits my normal clothe style.

Another German label site is Namensbaender.de. I looked there too, but they seemed to be a bit more expensive.

Now I can´t wait to make something new and use my labels XD

Colette Patterns

Last week I discovered an interesting pattern company. Colette Patterns have mostly 40s and 50s inspired patterns. I couldn´t resist to order some, but it was very difficult to decide which. In the end I ordered the Chantilly and Ceylon dress patterns. Did I mention that their patterns have really cute names. The new ones are named after teas.

Colette patterns also have a blog and there I found a pattern for this cute bloomers.

It was really easy to make these. I changed the pattern a bit. The fabric I got at Ikea. It was some kind of fabric rescue project, because the original thing, I wanted to make didn´t work out. This was a really nice weekend project. Now I can´t wait for my dress patterns.

Going to Neverland

The daughter of a friend of mine wished for a Peter Pan costume for carneval. Today I finished it. I am quite satisfied with it and now hope it will fit her.

The top:

The is my favorite part of the costume. I used an Ottobre pattern and changed the bottom part and the sleeves. It went together really well.

The hat:

This was really an adventure, because I made the pattern by myself. I think it looks cute, but it´s not perfect.

The trousers:

I like the cut (again an Ottobre pattern). It was not hard to sew, but I made some mistakes. I have no idea if this will fit her. I changed the pattern a bit. This is no masterpiece and I am not very proud of it.
