I sewed pants

The new Colette Clover pattern got me. I saw some great examples online and had to try my hands on it.
I wanted something colorful, so I bought a bright yellow cotton stretch.
Sewing was not complicated. I made no pockets, because I wanted it simple and don´t thought them necessary. I had some fitting issues. I know I should have made a muslin, but as it was only a try I skipped this. Or you can see this version as my muslin.
Unfortunately I don´t think this is really my style. First I am no pants type. I am really comfortable with my skirts and feel strange in pants. If pants I like them wide. Second I don´t think they look good on me. Maybe it´s only because it´s so unusal for me, but somehow I think I look better in wearing skirts or dresses.
What do you think pants or skirts for me?

Hat Week - Day Three

This is my newest addition. And I already love it. It´s so comfortable to wear and looks really great. Some things I found out for myself about hats are:

~ I like asymetrical hats, somehow I think they look more interesting
~ I like the small hats or better to say caps, because they are easier to wear and are not so over-the- top

I also like my other hats, that don´t fit the bill, but I noticed the hats I wear the most are made like this.

This hat reminds me of "Gone with the wind" (the curtain dress) and a bit of a Baroque feeling. After I bought it, I felt a bit guilty for buying another hat, but now I don´t regret it. I hope I will wear it a lot.

Hat Week - Day Two

I am a bit biased about this hat. One the one hand I think it´s really cute with the green leaves. It has something playful and girlish. One the other hand it´s a bit weird. Maybe too crazy.

Hat Week - Day One

I thought to wear my hats a bit more I like to wear one each day this week. This brown one is from the 40s. I really like it. It´s comfortable to wear and matches many of my clothes. It´s one of my most worn hats. I love the little details. You could wear the tulle over the face, but I think this is a bit too much for normal wear.

Bike tour

We made a little bike tour at the weekend. The weather was really nice and I did take some pictures, trying my new camera.

Autumn Weekend

I spent the long weekend (it´s holiday today in Germany) at my parent´s home. It was such a nice weather, all sunny and warm. We were at a wild animal park and I had the opportunity to test my birthday present (I know it´s a bit early for presents, but my parents wanted to test it): a Nikon D5100. This camera is great. I can´t wait to try it out. And it was so much fun to take pictures with it. So here are some:

This was a real lucky shot, because I only wanted to photograph the flowers and then there was this butterfly and I really got it.

I think the colors in this picture are great.

It was a bit difficult to take pictures of the squirrels, because they were in a cage and they moved all the time. But I like this photo.

And a good shot of my outfit. I sewed this dress of a 50s pattern. When it was finished I realized that the bodice was to long. So I shortened it. But I was a bit to optimistic and now the bodice is too short. With the belt it is okay and wearable though. And all this after I was so careful with the sewing. (photo also taken by my Dad)
