Review: Everyday Fashions of the Forties

SDC11008

I found this interesting book (or catalog) at Amazon and had to buy it. It contains pages from the Sears catalog. Although the pictures are only in black and white it´s a joy to browse trough this book. It gave me so many inspiration. And it´s interesting to see what people wear everyday and not only the fancy fashion magazine pictures (although they are also beautiful to look at).

The price of this book is okay. As with the most Dover books it´s affordable. There are the same kind of books for the 20s, 30s, 50s and 60s.

Here are some of my favorites:

I love this skirt. Planning on making one like this, pattern is ordered.

I like dresses with this ruffled back. I hope to make one in the future. Saw some patterns with this on etsy but nothing in my size. So I will make it by myself. Should not be too hard.

Aren´t these shoes amazing? Hope to get some with these wedge heels this summer to match my (hopefully) 40s dresses.
