Autumn Palette

I was inspired by Colette Patterns idea of making a colour palette for sewing. So here is my palette for autumn.



It´s mostly bright and bold colors. At the moment I really like this autumnal yellow and red.

Today came some fabric that really fits the bill. Unfortunately the patterns for these have not arrived yet. So I will show you photos as soon as they get here.

I finished something

Finally I can show you some finished things. It´s all nothing very special and somehow I am not very pleased with my sewing lately. Hopefully this will change the next weeks. But on to the pictures (sorry no worn ones, I simply had no time):




The top is made from the Sorbetto pattern by Colette (and the best, this pattern is free). I really like this easy and quick top. I used the sleeves by Mena from "Sew Weekly". I have some other Sorbettos planned. I think this is my favorite top pattern right now.
The shorts pattern is by McCall. I like the side construction, which is like a skirt, but they are a bit to short for normal wear. But they are nice for weekends. Maybe I make another pair someday but will add length.




Another Sorbetto. I got the fabric for a really good price. I like the somewhat Edwardian feeling about this top.




Finally I was caught by the Lisette passport dress. I like the front dart. Normally I have no problem with the sizing of Simplicity, but this dress rans really small. My somewhat heavy fabric added to this. I like to wear this dress, but can´t wear it for very long. This is very sad, because I like the look of the dress. It reminds me of the Sixties.




This is the Violet blouse by Colette. I had some problems with the collar. All in all it´s wearable, but I don´t think it will be a favorite. I like the fabric. It has an indian touch.

Today I sewed a Fifties dress. I am not so pleased with it, but I think it is wearable. But this time I want to show worn pictures, so it will take a while to post about this.

New fabrics

I recently bought some new fabrics. Mostly for planned projects.

First my silk fabrics. They were so expensive, but I couldn´t resist. I think I will make some more Sorbettos out of the flower silks. I already started to embroider the white silk. This will be a working bag for my embroidery.







Then I was at our local fabric shop and found some treasures. I have a plan for all of them already.









Next time I will show some things I finished the last weeks.

Making the 20s: Finished

Somehow I didn´t manage to show you some of the sewing, but finally I finished the dress right in time for our summer party. All in all I think it looks quite okay. I really hate the polyester fabric, but for the occassion it´s acceptable. The shoes did not hurt as much as I feared, but it was enough after some hours.
The party was fun. We had an absinth bar and a Roulette table and you could pay with especially printed money.

New fabric and patterns

Last week I bought some new fabric and by and by my ordered patterns came.



First is this flower fabric. It was the reason to go to the fabric shop, because I needed fabric for the McCall pattern. I finished the shorts today. I liked that they did go together well, but they are really really short. Tomorrow I plan to make a matching Sorbetto top.





There was sale at the fabric store and I couldn´t resist these two fabrics. The beige one is perfect for an easy skirt. Maybe I use this 70s pattern. The flower fabric is a very lightweight cotton. It feels so good. I want to make another Sorbetto out of this.



Today my Lisette pattern came. I thought about buying new fabric for it, but then I remembered I have this 50s fabric laying around. Want to make this next week.



These two patterns I ordered with the Lisette one. Both were patterns I laid my eyes on for quite a while, but never bought, because I am not sure if I will ever make them. But now they are mine and maybe some day I will use them.

My plan for autumn sewing is to use up as much fabric as possible from my stash. Unfortuately I have already two projects I need new fabric for. One is a 50s sailor dress and the other the Circle skirt sewalong at Casey´s. At least I should stop buying patterns.

Sewing old

I found this darling at ebay and had to have it. It´s a "Seidel & Naumann" sewing machine from 1931. It´s in a very good shape and does function. I am so excited to have it finally. Can´t wait to try it out next weekend.

Small things

At the moment I have not so much time for sewing. I am really sad about this, because I have so many great plans, but after work there is so little time and at the weekends I am at my boyfriend´s home. I have a sewing machine there, but no hot iron and I can´t sew without this. I try to finish a skirt for three weeks now.
But at least I managed to make some small things.

First a birthday card for my boyfriend´s grandmother (the sewing one). She´s the one, who gives me all the great sewing stuff. I like her a lot. She is such a nice person and we have many things in common. I made the cake out of some scraps from my Lonsdale dress (which I wore at the birthday party, but I realized it only after the evening was over and we were on our way home). The candle is made of felt. The card and the paper are also things I had on hand. Recycling can be so sweet.

And then I made a little fascinator after Mena´s great tutorial. I made it out of felt. The words are hand stitched (I know I am not very good at this). It can be worn as a fascinator (with a clip) or a brooch.
I wore it to our second anniversary. My boyfriend bought some really expensive champagne. It was a very nice evening.
