1. Sew a "Lady of Shalott" dress.
Do you know the painting by Waterhouse? I love it and I want such a dress for myself for ages. So, I have the pattern, orderd the fabric and some matching buttons.
-> desastrous fail, never had time to even begin with
2. Sew something for a men.
Maybe a Cowboy shirt for my Dad or a classic shirt for my boyfriend. Don´t know yet.
-> I made my dear a T-Shirt and he likes it.
3. Make jewelry.
I know not really a sewing project, but maybe I can combine these.
-> I was very productive with this and made several earrings and also some rings and necklaces. But it´s the same as with fabric, I have so many leftovers. *sigh*
4. Sew solid color skirts and blouses.
I love patternd fabric, but it is hard to combine if you have no solid color pieces.
-> Made one or two I don´t wear regularly.
5. Sew more for others.
I feel so selfish if I always only sew for myself. Now I only need ideas.
-> I fulfilled this. Hope the people like the things.

Review: Burda Plastic Tracing Sheets
I decided to test the Burda Plastic Tracing Sheets when my tracing paper was all used. So I thought I write a little review.
Pros:
- you can see trough it
sometimes with lines in colors it was a bit difficult to see them trough the paper, with the plastic sheets it´s no problem
- holds longer
the paper had tears really fast, the plastic holds even if you fold or crush it and you can store it easier
Cons:
- you need a permanent marker to draw
not a big con, but maybe some don´t like this
- it´s a bit slippery
sometimes it´s difficult to hold it in place, but it was difficult with the paper to, all in all in this point I like the plastic more
- costs more
I think I will buy the plastic in the future. It´s nice if patterns hold a while.
Christmas presents are in work. First batch is finished. Hope to get something done today. I am a bit ill, which does not help.

Sense & Sensibility Patterns - Dollar Downloads
Sense & Sensibility Patterns has a great section with scans from old fashion magazines. Really enjoyable and interesting. And the best each download costs only one dollar. I recently purchased two and they were such a great source of inspiration.
And better this week there is a give-away!

Project for 2011
I know it´s still a bit early to make plans for the new year, but I had a great idea today and wanted to share it with you.
I am all into vintage patterns right now and ordered some. Then I thought, when will you really make these gorgeous dresses. So I decided to sew one each month from next March on (ten patterns for ten months).
Here are the patterns. Two of them were already in my pattern stash.
(please click for bigger view)
Now I am waiting for the rest to arrive. One is here already. It feels so great to have something so old.

Challenge: Sew a scrunchie each week till the end of the year
I love sewing scrunchies, it´s easy and quick and a great way to use up scraps (and you all know I have too many scraps). And I use them a lot. So I thought as an easy challenge I will sew one each week for the rest of the year.
And this is the first one:

May I introduce you...
... with my new sewing machine:
It was a birthday present. I was so curios, how it would work. And then everything went fantastic. Preparations were a bit complicated, but manageable. Sewing was exciting and easy.
I had some problems changing the stitches, but with some trying it was okay.
So far I made a t-shirt for my boyfriend and a skirt for my ballet lessons.

Making Rococo: Stays - Preparations
The first thing I need for my Rococo garment are new stays, because my old ones are far to wide now and not so well made.
This is my pattern:
And this is my outside fabric:
I have left over corset fabric from my last stays and some linen. This time the outside will get a nice fabric. I love the roses. It´s a reproduction fabric from the 18th century. I also have the boning, only thing I have to buy/make is the bias tape.

What I made in September
This month I almost only made things for others. But I like this too and I could use some of my fabric scraps.
First I finished the handkerchief for my Dad. I embroiderd his initial. Nothing special, but what to give someone who has everything (or wishes I can´t afford, I think I come in this after my father, his hobby is also expensive XD).
Second I made a picture book for my nephew (this is weird, that I have a nephew without a brother or sister). His parents and the rest of the family liked it a lot, when I gave it yesterday. Little Leon was unfortunately already asleep.
And finally I made some things for myself.
Pointe shoes earrings
poupeegirl
Matrjoshka earrings
poupeegirl
Corpse Bride brooch

Oh, and I finished my Beignet skirt, which you can see here Day 17.
It seems Self-Stitched-September was not so motivating for my sewing. Sorry, I have no photos of the last days, because weather sucked so much, I forgot to take some.
Plans for October:
- some Rococo sewing (speaks stays, chemise and hopefully pattern for dress)
- maybe Regency sewing (stays, chemise, bonnet)
- Lady Grey
- Ballet things (new leotard and skirt)
And finally holidays after six months working.
