Outfit of the day

We had a Lolita meet-up today. I had not very much choice what to wear, but fortunately I had one dress from a Japanese brand that still fits me. So I was of course underdressed but at least a bit Lolita.

We visited a little exhibition about the mind which was not so interesting. Afterwards we were at a café and had a nice time.

The people were all so nice and we exchanged gifts and it was a very nice day. The weather was really nice. It was not too cold, so it was no problem being outside.

Flip Dolls & Other Toys by Laura Wilson

This book was on my wish list several times. I thought I did not really need another book with a lot of cute dolls I would never make. But when I had a gift code I couldn't resist and bought it and what should I say, I love it. The ideas in this book are really cute. It's not only dolls but dolls with function. Each toy has some function and I think these would make great gifts for children. I especially like the flip dolls.

I am glad I did not miss this book, because I really want to make a lot of the toys.

This stacking trees would make a great last-minute-gift for a little one.

I think the knight which changes into a dragon is my favorite.

Gift ideas

It's not too late for selfmade christmas presents. And thanks to digital patterns you have access to such a lot of ideas. I searched for some nice gift ideas at Kitschy Digitals. Simply click on the picture to get to the pattern.

Storyland Cross Stitch by What Delilah Did

DSC_3110

I can't help but fall in love with everything fairytale related, so of course I had to buy this book. But it not only has breath taking pictures, but really great projects to get into cross stitch. There are mainly decorative things, which would make adorable gifts for christmas. The designs are very modern, so even someone who is not into kitschy and cute stuff would enjoy these.

With the book comes also a little fabric and yarn set, so you can start imediately. I really enjoy this book and although I did not make something from it till now I like to look through it.

I really like this christmas card wreath. Unfortunately I did not have the time to make one for this year. Maybe I make one early next year for next christmas. Click the photo for a link to the tutorial!

Vintage gifts to knit by Susan Crawford

DSC_3113

If you're good at knitting maybe you could make something from this book for a loved one till christmas. There are ideas for everyone. For example there are some really nice socks for Dad, a lovely jacket for the little one in your life or some stockings maybe for a sister or friend. All patterns are vintage inspired, so they are mostly very classic. I really love Susan Crawford's works and have all of her books. Although I only started with knitting and am not very good at it right now, I really enjoy browsing through the books and dreaming about all the wonderful sweaters and things I could make. The photos are lovely and show the projects clearly. So you can really see how the outcome will look. Most of the projects are not strictly christmas related, so you can also make these for other festivities.

Wouldn't this sweater make a great christmas gift for a friend or yourself?

This hooded scarf is a great beginners project and I defintely plan to make this.

And if you can't knit, maybe you know someone who can and would enjoy this or any other book by Susan Crawford.

Outfit of the day

DSC_3094

I could not resist this cute sweater when I saw it at the ASOS webstore. It was just too perfect for the coming christmas time. And after patiently waiting for the festive days to come I wore it the first time today. I really like it and it kept me warm all day at work.

Festive Updo

Wouldn't this be a great hair style for a christmas party. And it seems manageable, too.

Christmas books

I have some books that always come to my mind around christmas time. So today I want to share these with you. Some I know the stories since I am a child from TV and discovered the books much later, others are childhood favorites.

A secret and a project

I am sorry for the lack of posts the last few months, but beside from a lot of work, exams and a very old and slow laptop I had another thing that kept me occupied. My not so little secret anymore is due in March next year and will most likely be male, which means, yes, I am pregnant.

I can't wait till March. It's all so exciting. Of course I am a bit nervous about being a Mom, but mostly I am happy.

So with christmas coming and to get back into blogging I want to post here each day till christmas. I have some ideas, but we will see.

And I want to post a photo each day at my Instagram. So here is the first one, blue candy apples at the christmas market. No, I did not buy one, but was treated to candy cotton by my boyfriend (the rest of which you can see in the photo above).
